Disasterous delivery

Last week, I was tracking a parcel (which had been sent to my Australia Post parcel locker) online, and I saw that it had been marked as 'delivered'. However, it had not been delivered to me at my parcel locker, based on the tracking information and the fact that I had received no correspondence advising me to pick up my parcel.

To try to resolve this, I went to two post offices on 3 occasions, made 3 phone calls, and made an online enquiry. I was advised that Australia Post did not know where my parcel was, that I should check my parcel locker (despite the fact that parcel lockers can only be checked once you receive an access code for each individual parcel, which I clearly did not have), and that my parcel was at the City East post office (where it was not, and has never been). After all this, a whole week later, Australia Post finally told me that my parcel had been delivered to the wrong person.

In the end, I contacted the business which had received my parcel in error and retrieved the parcel from them myself. They, at least, were helpful! I understand that mistakes happen, however the fact that Australia Post seem to have no way of determining where they've delivered a parcel to is ridiculous. It's also unbelievable that post office staff don't know how parcel lockers work. And I'd prefer to be told that they don't know where my parcel is than told something that isn't true.

If I had waited for Australia Post to resolve the issue instead of taking matters into my own hands, I have no doubt that I would never have received my parcel.
