FALLING mail volumes, falling profits and — based on a growing chorus of complaints — falling standards are putting increased pressure on Australia Post.

The 207-year-old national postal service has been busy working on ways to reinvent itself amid the slow death of the letter, but consumers are not happy.

They have flooded social media to vent their anger about slow service, long call centre waiting times, posties leaving tickets rather than trying to deliver parcels, and business customers unhappy about urgent pick-ups being missed.

On Australia Post’s Facebook page, some of it has been brutal. “Worst delivery service and customer service ever” and “It’s a shame there’s no choice of postal service” are among the attacks. Sometimes dozens of complaints are posted daily.

In its latest annual report, the Postal Industry Ombudsman says complaints about Australia Post have almost trebled since 2008. The bulk of the complaints are about loss and delivery issues.

“In 2014-15 we received 5613 complaints about Australia Post, which was a 38 per cent increase on the previous financial year,” the report says.

The Commonwealth Ombudsman says Australia Post is the second most complained about entity in its jurisdiction, after social services, but notes its high level of public contact while delivering more than 16 million articles every day.

An Australia Post spokesman said for 15 years it had consistently met its community service obligations, which included delivering 94 per cent of letters on time.

“In February we delivered 97.5 per cent of letters on time — this result is independently audited,” he said.

Consumer group Choice spokesman Tom Godfrey said social media had quickly become the main method for customers to complain.

“Whether it’s dodgy Fitbits or a letter that doesn’t arrive on time, if you have a problem you take it to social media to let the company know,” he said.

I have ordered hundreds of items online and the only delays experienced are when the site uses australia post to deliver it. Their tracking system is a joke as you see your parcel progress until it gets to Chullora and then it stays in transit for ever. You can request updates online but you will never ever get any. Will never order from any company again who delivers via Australia Post.

Post and Go has just lost $800 i put in to pay accounts. Support RUDE even though I have paper work. Will never use them again and now can't pay bills. They say they will look in to it in 10 days. Is very close to theft.

I was expecting a parcel. I rang the post office, to be greeted with a voicemail message, so I left my message. I was rung back later in the day and was told that they had left a card and it was waiting collection. This was despite the address stating clearly to leave at front door if not home.

I don't drive and am half blind and all parcels get delivered safely. I stated that no card had been left and also instructed them to return to sender. a day later a card appears, dated 2 days prior, but no comments on the tracking sheet.

I left 4 voicemail messages over 4 days. Eventually a man rang back. I was told it would be returned to sender and that I should tell them why I call on the message.

They only return calls "when they have time" and he also said he is the post master so he advised me to ring a central call centre. He said they can't afford to pay staff to answer phones. I am waiting until I cool down before trying that but I will certainly be looking into this further. DISGUSTING AND LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE! No wonder business is down.

Today Australia Post sent me an email entitled "A new letter has arrived" which required me to log into my MyPost Digital Mailbox. Having done this, I had to enter a verification code sent to my moblle phone. The "new letter" turned out to be nothing more than something entiltled "MyPost Digital Mailbox Top Tips" - things that I could presumably just as easily find out by searching The Australia Post website.

This whole process is quite baffling - if Australia Post feels duty-bound to send me spam, can't it just send it in an email like most people do?

I attempted to send a comment to Australia Post today, pointing out the above, using their online "Help and Support" - I got the message "Sorry. We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again." So I tried again, three more times, each time getting the same message. The result? - four emails in my Inbox, each with a different reference number saying "Your enquiry is in progress ..... We look forward to assisting you further". Oh dear.

Sold item on eBay which was previously listed as a "Pick up Only". Buyer begged to have it shipped interstate, so I did. I packed it with that much thick bubble wrap and packing tape in a box. It was solid and sound. Took out insurance as I had little faith in Australia Post from previous occasions.

Posted it on the 6th May from Bannockburn, Victoria. That evening went to North Geelong, Victoria. 8th Arrived in Chullora, NSW, 9th back to Sunshine West, Victoria, then North Geelong on the 12th, then back to Chullora, NSW on the 14th, then Tamworth NSW on the 16th and was delivered this morning (17th).

Took out insurance and guess what? Broken ceramic vanity basin. I have photo evidence of the item pre and post packing. Australia Post blamed their automation for the article tracking back and forth between two states.

Now they have to investigate. I claimed that I had written the words handle with care on the top of the box next to the addressee label. I was advised that Australia Post don't have a "Handle with Care Policy". WTF!!

Australia Post have to be held accountable for the manner in which they treat both their customers and the posted articles that they are responsible for!!

Yet another "non-delivery" from Australia Post today (31 May 2016). Heard the van come up the drive. No knock on the door. Just a card for parcel pick up. This lack of service seems to be the norm. In recent times this scenario has taken place at least half a dozen times. Particularly annoying, as there is usually someone home. NOT GOOD ENOUGH Australia Post!

I watched a parcel delivery driver get out of his van with an already filled out form to come pick my pacel up at the end of the day. He didn't even atempt to come to my door which was litterally 5 steps away from the letterbox.

I told the local post office and they said they can't doing anything about it and directed me to just call auspost customer service and said just make sure I keep calling everytime it happens.

I've seen so many videos of auspost parcel delivery (posties throwing parcels, not delivering items just the sorry I missed you cards etc.) now to assume auspost is doing nothing about these delivery drivers. If they fix this issue I think it will make a big impact on there whole service with complaints getting less and less.

I am home all day, almost next to my intercom, waiting for items bought on line and which were sent via Australia Post. Almost every time Australia Post does not ring the intercom to deliver the parcel, but just puts a card inb my lettewrbox telling me to collect item from the Postoffice, because i was not home .

This is getting ridiculous.

Again today, I have not moved from the intercom, because I am waiting for a delivery from another courier. I just went down to check my mailbox, only to find another " you are not home" card.

Clearly it is quicker to puta card in a mail box than to ring , especially on an intercom in a block of units, but we pay for a delivery by Australia Post, not a card to tell us every time to pick it up at a crowded Post Office in a large Shopping Centre (Garden City in 4122).

It would be fairer then to charge less, no deliveries, just an email or text to pick it up at the post office !!! Marianna

Australia post sucks, I went to my local post office i put the address down put the item in the satchel, nearly 14 days later the person still has not received the item. it was only going to the other side of the city 1 hour and 45 minutes away, NOT a different state.

However i put the tracking number in the tracking online system today and yep Australia post for some stupid reason they have sent the parcel to South Australia. I am in Victoria. If we cant rely on Australia post to deliver our mail correctly and promptly what other choices do we have none.

My postie actually came to deliver the parcel but when I came out to collect it, he was already in the car writing a card. When I walked up to his car he mumbled something and threw my parcel onto the floor of his car. I know I came out late to collect it but did he really have to throw my parcel which had 6 mugs in it? He wouldn't even look at me as he handed me the scanner to sign.

We are a small struggling family owned business and we have to pay for AustPost errors.

There saviour could be parcel deliveries but they have zero customer service.

Sequence of events: 24/03/16: Carton of wine sent to a customer in Sydney. 29/03/16; notified by AustPost that a bottle was broken in transit.

We instructed them to repack and send the other 11 bottles to our customer and we would replace the broken bottle.

07/04/16: customer had notified us that the carton had still not been received. We had no contact from Austpost. We contacted AustPost for update.

11/04/16: Still no news from AustPost, our customer has still not received their product. We rang AustPost for update again.

15/04/16: Austpost finally contacted us and told us that the other 11 bottles have now disappeared and can’t be found. They would refund our original postage. We said that it was suspicious that the rest of the opened carton had "€œdisappeared" and intimated that we thought it must have been consumed.

We asked if this was going to be investigated and were told that it would not.

Because of a series of AustPost issues we are replacing the carton of wine FOC for our customer (now out of pocket to the tune of $250) and have to pay for a new carton to be delivered. AustPost have made a series of errors and they are not out of pocket at all but we pay for their mistake.

This is all about the poor management, the people up there (CEO) seems to be blind about what is real problem is. The mails keep getting lost, the customer service line seems getting longer and longer.

But they seems dont care he keeps trying to get additional services, who would trust him while he wouldnt fulfill his own job.

I like to see him sacks postman that did not attempt to delivery, cut off the contract with the contractor that couldnt do the job, just dont let the incompetent or lazy people in your workforce.

Well if you are not happy with the job you doing just quit, dont let the business down with your irresponsible or dont care attitude. We need job, if everyone would contribute alittle more to the business we can make Australian Post thrive.

There are alot of good employee working in post to just like my husband and it will be really hard for us if he lost his job. We have 3 growing kids to feed.

Government needs to heavily subsidize Aus Post and run at a large loss with a decrease of cost in sending parcels overseas. This will motivate people overseas to buy more from Australia, business will profits increase lifting import and export trade followed by an increase in the economy just how countries such as China and Japan operate.

The current prices of shipping pushes away overseas buyers particularly when surpassing the 3kg range. It takes 3-4 days to send a parcel from Japan to Australia via EMS, yet from here it will cost 30-40% more and take 30-40% longer.

Aus post is a broken business model and is too far gone to be brought to where it needs to. Competition needs to step in and do exactly what Aus Post doesn't do.

It is an absolute pain having to deal with them on a regular basis.

Forget about the letter situation, that's the least of our worries. It's lowering the parcel costs by a huge chunk and delivering those pieces as fast as possible. The day Aus Post go down and competition take over will be a happy day for all import / export business of Australia.

As Aus post private and business customer I have to say that it works both ways. We are using less postal services because of pour service experiences.

Misplaced and lost letters and parcels, letters take 14 days over 100 km distance... And so on. Yes it is hard to keep up standards with more electronic delivery but clever businesses look at their processes and service delivery issues and improve them...there are plenty opportunities that are currently not used.

Australia Post will not deliver parcels to my home/business.

First they say it is because the gate is closed and this is against OH&S.

Then when I leave the gate tied open it is because the driver says he can't turn around - even though there is a circular drive at the house and I have had tip trucks, removalist trucks, fire trucks and all other courier vans deliver to my house.

Their drivers are just too lazy to get off their fat ass and do their job. I always try to find any other delivery service other than Aust Post to deliver parcels

I finally received a refund last week for $20 which I paid to have a parcel delivered and they refused to deliver it as the instructions were for the parcel to be delivered to the rear of the property. Apparently the driver is not allowed to lose sight of the delivery van, and that's their excuse for no delivery, and just placing the red collection card in the post box.

This happened in December 2015 and I only received a refund last week - 3 months, numerous phone calls, and a huge waste of everyone's time. If they have recordings of conversations for quality assurance, I provided at least 6 and have varying case numbers to match.

Their customer relationship management is kaput due to the contractors who don't give a rats a_se and requires a complete overhaul!

And it's about to get worse for AusPost with Origin and other companies now charging to receive paper bills. THEY are the companies you need to keep using your services.

However, if they start (and keep) charging us to receive their bills, we're going to stop having paper bills delivered, and there goes another line of AusPost revenue. Maybe you need to talk to companies about continuing to use your services.

Overseas deliveries coming in 5-7 days and small parcel in Melbourne took 11 days. Perhaps I should consider myself lucky that it was delivered. Privatize the business if not able/willing to fix it.

Domestic postage jumping from $0.70 to $1.00 at the drop of a hat, and if you want it 'express' then you pay a priority fee. What a joke. How about you try and deliver the mail on time? Are we to be held to ransom by this postal service? How about we have some competition in the domestic market and see how Ausfailure Post measures up?

I sent a letter with bank cheques in an express post envelope and lo and behold it's not even scanning on their 'tracker' system after a week. Oh yes, I get it, if it's too out of your way to deliver to a regional area then you can't be stuffed delivering it. Next time I'll save the trouble and just bin the letter myself. I had 2 parcels delivered via registered with id required for delivery.

Unfortunately I was not home at time of delivery, i discovered they had been delivered through the tracking sytem.

So Australia post had happily left the parcels at my doorstep (both containing expensive and irreplaceable items). I discovered the parcels had been stolen and when I confronted Australia post about this, apparently they were signed for (by who I don't know as I live alone) so they had done their job according to Australia post.

When I went through the complaints department they sent me a copy of the signiture, which appeared to be someone trying to forg my name and spelling it incorrectly I might add. In the end I got nowhere with them.

No sorry. No reimbursement. All they told me is that these things happen. So much for paying more for registered post with is required for collection. Since then I have been using an independent courier company.

Funny people jumping onto social media to express outrage, when this technology is the reason people send few letters these days. Looking at the comments it's hardly surprising the "scream and insult" generation gets dumped on hold for shooting the messenger. These "comments" are easily comparable with road rage! By the way, international packages are the responsibility of the sender, if it gets lost in customs (also not Australia Post) then they will track or re-send, abusing Australia Post employees on the phone won't help. My experience with people that lash out in this manner, is that they are generally angry people who rant about everything!

I recently bought two similar items on line. One from the USA and one from Sydney. Both were dispatched same day. It took less than a week for the USA parcel to arrive and more than two weeks for the Sydney parcel to be delivered by Australia Post.

I live in a Brisbane suburb not in the outback. It is getting to the stage that even parcels from China which were notoriously slow are close to beating Australia Posts Australian mail delivery times even though the final delivery of Chinese small packages in Brisbane is by Aust Post.

The CEO at AusPost is a recycled manager from one of the big banks. This explains a lot as he is following standard bank management practice--cut services and put up prices. The not so hidden agenda is to privatize the service or major components of it. If the government wants to revitalize the organization it should allow AusPost to run a bank. As many of the post offices are franchised the service would be considerably better than one would get at a bank branch.

Premium prices for not so premium services! I had my run in with them, they did not like it when I pointed out to them about dropping a note in my mailbox without knocking on my door, they then resorted to accusing me that my small dog had attacked their delivery man! I would use another delivery service in a heartbeat, Aussie/Mossie post stink!

Companies like ParcelVault are working hard to provide alternatives to Australia Post. Already open in Newtown, ParcelVault provides people with a new, convenient address for their parcels. I hope they take off, and provide some real competition to AusPost.

I'd happily pay more to use a competing service that was actually run by competent people. Hopefully it won't be long until there's enough of a market to justify a competitor for these hapless buffoons. Officeworks actually had a reasonable offering about 18 months ago, but in typical corporate fashion, they have totally wrecked it.

the postal system is dismal, in the pilbara the postal contractors are lazy. they are ment to deliver packages to your door, they just put the slip in the mailbox rather than carry it to the door to see if someone is home. They deliver the wrong packages, mail gets lost here. I dont trust australia post full stop.

Premium price for a mickeymouse service. If your package has been delivered to someone else and not returned to the post office get a compaints form filled out, then they have to find out, and that usually involves a visit from the police since if its a registered parcel anyway.

Tracking is not 'Arrived in Australia' 'Delivered' with a 3 week silence in between. You cannot speak to a single person with any direct responsibility in the organisation. Their customer service is a bunch of telephonists who can only type in a complaint for you, a complaint that gets filed in no mans land.

When they need to stop showing all tracking info on their website to reduce customer awareness of where their deliver was lost, held up, stolen, then you know management are drowning in their own incompetence. Oh, and throwing a correctly addressed package on some random person's doorstep is not considered 'delivered' by anyone except Australia Post.

My main complaint with local Post Office is that they are constantly forgetting to put a card in my post box informing me there is a parcel waiting for collection. Generally AP take days to deliver a letter or parcel and then have the nerve to up their stamp cost from 70c to $1.00. Also the CEO is overpaid for the job he does.

It's not so much the 'delivery on time' I have a problem with. It's the postie dropping a very light parcel that is the size of CD case on the ground, in front of the EMPTY letterbox. If it hadn't been for a twig that landed on the parcel, it would have been blown away in the windy conditions. And this wasn't an isolated incident. And then there are the "Drop the card and run" when I have SEEN the delivery van pull up to the letterbox and drop the "Sorry I missed You" card, when he didn't even get out of the van. I got photos of that one, as my office looks out over the driveway and I have clear view of the letterbox. Again, not an isolated incident. I have filled out those forms time and again, but nothing came of them, and I got tired of killing trees by wasting forms with complaints that were never addressed. (Yes, deliberate pun there).

Here is a good reason why privatisation or their version of it, is NOT always a good idea. Another example is the mess they current call Telstra. or Electricity I'm tired of government not doing the job they were elected to do. And farming everthing out to private enterprise.

Just hope others are doing the same. Would be nice if Australia Post got it right first time. Even just a little bit of care as the posties are dropping the letters in the letterbox as a final check. A quick glance is all it would take. It's happened a few too many times now and I've chosen to get most of my bills and statements online. More lost business for them.

It's easy. Daily deliveries to PO boxes (to give us some benefit for constantly increasing PO box rents) and twice-three times weekly deliveries to street addresses. Then costs reduce without the price hikes and people get what they pay for (rather than paying more for less). What's the problem with this idyllic scenario? Postal unions, of course. Blame them and their members ultimately for tying the hands of Aus Post.

What utter liars. When added to the numerous things they have lost or damaged it makes for a very shoddy service. And they have the cheek to double the cost and make the service slower. Yet they boast that their letters are mostly being delivered on time- looks good until you remember that they moved the expected time it takes to deliver from two days to six.

Pre-paid satchels are the worst. They promote them for their ease of use. You can just post them into the nearest letterbox. The problem is, that they seem to have a tendency to disappear without ever being tracked onto the mail system. Then when you complain, Australia Post ask for your proof of postage, which you don't have.

        Surely the delivery of mail is an essential service. The definition of essential means it operates even if it is not making profits. Under its community service obligations, Australia Post is committed to providing an accessible, affordable and reliable letter service for all Australians wherever they reside, however I think Australia Post wants to bail out of mail delivery. Why else would they charge astronomical prices for a decreasingly effective service. The obvious result is even more people using email and private delivery services. Self-fulfilling madness.

        It is businesses like ours that suffer. We manager strata communities - body corporates - with many hundreds of clients. Whilst many of our clients are elderly and absolutely rely on the mail delivery, legislation demands that we provide a minimum of 2 weeks notice of meetings. The worsening situation with Australia Post deliveries means that we must add an extra week or two just to ensure our clients receive notices on time. The ridiculous thing is that once upon a time they used to receive mail the next day. Now we have to allow a minimum of three weeks. Absolutely pathetic service.

Heck just deliver every second day to our house as well especially with such a slow service whats the point of daily delivery. Please just don't affect the speed of delivery to the post office. My whole business had to put in workarounds while we waited and waited for credit cards. I would have definitely opted for post office pickup if it was going to be quicker just make sure we don't have to pickup from a manned office. With technology these days I'm sure its possible to pickup a letter from a post office unmanned? Get some design thinking workshops going Australia Post and think about your customers!

After recently raising a complaint on AusPost last week and waiting over an hour to speak to someone, who really couldn't help me understand a little more why AusPost is failing. While they have diversified their business, they are still lacking to keep up at the core of things. I had a lost package, despite ample tracking notifications. Speaking to the customer rep, they called the mail sort facility and couldn't find the package and that their systems weren't like a courier where they only had point to point tracking and no full tracing ability to understand where in the facility the package was. I was then told the package was mislabeled and on it's way back to the sender and told further to contact the sender who had a business account. So, I did, and whoa, the package was delivered within the hour. All I can say AusPost is get the core right, you bought Startrack yet didn't implement the basics about parcel tracking, further you don't enable your staff to actually help anyone. I even offered to go to the mail facility to pick up the package and was told I couldn't, another thing any courier service would easily provide. Simply, get the basics right.

I am not at all surprised to read this article & that my increasingly frustrating interactions with Australia Post are not an isolated occurrence. As I have stated publicly on Twitter several times, with each increase in the prices charged for their abysmal "services", there is an equal decrease in their already practically non-existent customer service. From packages 'vanishing' from my parcel locker, to a lack of notifications about them arriving, discrepancies between the tracking visible to the public versus internal staff, to being told that the sender only is permitted to follow up on delayed or missing deliveries (that I, the customer, paid delivery for), and then being told the lockers are only checked weekly for packages that have fallen off their tracking radar, it definitely encourages one to consider alternative options such as parcel pick up via Office Works. Australia Post better hope that their CEO continues decreasing their KPI's so that they can continue meeting them.

~~~~~~~ The list continues... A few updates added and a few repeats deleted.
Card in box said collect at PO after 11 am, it was not there. Told it may not come back until evening. :( It would have taken the contracted delivery longer to write out the card and put in mailbox, than to actually come to front door. This despite the fact that the address is correct and I have been receiving parcels here over the past several months.     Paid for a letter to be sent registered mail, and it was lost, never returned to sender, never found again. The funniest part was after I complained, and they admitted it was lost, they said "registered mail is still the best option for tracking an article " ?????
    Australia Post. A simple parcel posted from Melbourne to Bendigo. Tracking number provided. The company inadvertently put the wrong number of the street number, I live at 115, they listed it as a 117. Contacted the Company, they said they would correct it via dispatch. I did not believe them. On line you can correct it on Australia Post site. Completed that request, now to follow the tracking number. The saga deepens. The parcel arrived at Golden Square At 6.47am Mon 1 Aug. I rang Australia post on the 4th of Aug, with tracking number supplied. I was told it would be delivered today, 4th of Aug or tomorrow the 5th, I asked could you make it Friday the 5th. Yes, I was told consider it done. So checked the tracking number on Friday the 5th. Now the information was telling me The parcel was at Sunshine West? What a joke. Rang again to find out what was going on, what the hell is it doing at Sunshine West? I was told it was a glitch in the system, and the parcel would arrive today at the end of the working business day. You guessed it no parcel. I rang today the 8th of Aug at 12.20pm, now this operator was more honest, Australia Post has completely stuffed it up. Why was I told such BS? All the information was on their computer, the parcel has been directed back to the sender. Now lets see what happens. The mind boggles. From what I have read this type of incident, and other deliveries is quite common.
    Why are Australia Post and bank CEO's paid such obscenely high salaries, too high even if service was good! Service is expensive and appallingly slow. So expensive it's not cost effective to sell and post items on eBay any more. Recent purchase from city central Victoria, advised by Aus Post, will take 5 days to reach Gold Coast Qld, after re-sorting in NSW!!!Why not delivered direct from Vic to Qld, why the pitstop???How absurd! Post use decreases because the service has decreased so appallingly. With such increase in online sales demand, I would have expected Aus Post demand to increase, ...perhaps private couriers are cheaper and faster? Sack CEO Ahmed Fahour, sack all the overpaid executives, and put the money into providing a fast efficient value for money service, because it's currently crappy! And what's with "clicknsend", I was sold loads of satchels years ago and told it was a fixed post price per satchel size, yet, after purchase, the price has sky rocketed to send these satchels. Since the purchase deal was for a fixed post price, why has Aus Post been allowed to change the contract agreed delivery cost??
    In February we delivered 97.5 per cent of letters on time — this result is independently audited,” he said. We rarely get a letter that has been franked, so we don't know how long it was in the system - then how does AP know that 97.5% were on time??? I get a magazine subscription sent from central Vic to Melbourne, and all are posted the first Wednesday of the month. . I used to get them on the following Friday, occasionally one would arrive on the Monday - i.e. usually 2 working days, sometimes 3. Over the past 18 months they have taken a week longer. Best I have had is 4 working days, worst was this months 9 working days. Rang to complain yesterday and the young lady kept trying top fob me off, saying they could not do anything without the tracking number. I gave her the magazine reg #, but no good, and she kept telling me "no problem". I took her to task on that and told her there was a problem and I wanted it investigated. I asked to speak with her manager, and after a while on hold she gave me a reference # and said a few more times "no probs" and I kept reminding her that there are problems. I can get a parcel from the US quicker than a magazine from 150km's away!
    I have tried every way I know to get parcels over postman size delivered for 4 years now, I have had a very few delivered after senders have put in a complaint. I have had one call back and one letter over that time. I don't get cards because they are very obviously picking the parcels up from the depot and then taking them to the local PO for me to pick up. I have been doing that with smaller items , but they have done it to me this week with a heater , which I would have to use a courier to pick up. Does that seem right.??
    3 weeks and one day for letter delivery within Sydney! I had to stop payment on cheques lost in the mail at $15 charge each. I do not dare to send cheques by mail any more..Two and half weeks letter delivery between Sydney and Adelaide. 4 Parcels gone missing in the last few months, two of them Express with signature and insured. Still waiting for a resolution after 3 weeks. One parcel took 6 weeks for resolution and promised part compensation only to receive an email saying it was damaged and nothing could be done. THIRD WORLD Service!!!
    If only we had a choice on who could deliver our letters. I have had many instances where Express Post parcels have gone missing. Australia Post are pathetic how they deal with a complaint i.e… absolutely no response. Constantly getting slips in the mail for 'not being home when the parcel was delivered'. This is nonsense and Australia Post needs to complete an audit on their dodgy contractors.
    Someone should ask Australia Post about their current parcel locker problem. Customers unable to recover parcels from their locker for nearly 3 days. All you get from Australia post is dumb silence.
    Austpost Still haven't heard back from customer service, had the sender ring me this morning to tell he thinks I might get the parcel but this is the forth time he has rang me to say it's coming. Austpost can't isolate an item and track it if there life depended on it. As for customer service what a joke I get better service at subway. it's nearly 1month in transit from NSW to Melbourne. I bet you nobody rings me about this again, This is the forth case open On the same parcel if it gets to hard They just close the case. I've spoke with 3 Customer service personnel Peter, Aidin, Andrew, I wonder who's next...
    My order from Amazon in USA, for Ballarat area, Victoria, (110 kms from Melbourne), was tracked as arriving at the Melbourne (Sunshine West) post facility on 12th Sept, only 2 days after it was shipped. On 22 Sept when it had not arrived I enquired, to find that it had gone to Winnellie, Northern Territory, due to a sorting error -- although postcode and address were correct. It would now be 'put on a truck' (by which presumably it had also arrived) for its return journey to Victoria -- not to Ballarat though (3350), but to Melbourne (3000) again, prior to onward trucking to Ballarat -- and that would be prior to deliver to my Ballarat suburban PO. Expect it in another 10 days, the 'consultant' said, as it has to make its way down from Darwin. That's 2 days USA to Melbourne, 18 days up and down Australian roads. IF it gets here by then. No expediting in view of errors, no compensation, just a wishy washy 'oh, sorry'. And no place that I could find on the website for complaints. Has anyone found one?
    How they have the gall to call it a "tracking" service is beyond me. they scan on item being sent and if your lucky enough to get it delivered, it is scanned before delivery that day... where is the tracking?.. I got a delivery from USA that passed through five states before being shipped over to Australlia, it showed me where the parcel was every step of the way, same with a parcel from France. Sack that CEO of Australia Post and get someone competent!
    It takes 3 weeks for a letter to arrive to the same postcode as it is being sent from? I find it ridiculous that I have to pay an extra 50cents per letter for priority service for my letters to be delivered. Please dont start me on cheques etc that I have posted to pay my bills, I am now getting late fees charged on my accounts because I dont like internet payments. This is so much a medival service it is beyond belief. I could walk to Sydney and hand deliver my letters quicker. I live in Country NSW.
    Courier dumped card on path in the wind two days running. I watched him drive off, both times. More seriously, some Centrelink claim forms are not available online but are still posted out from Canberra. They must usually be returned within a fortnight or the claim date expires, and some require attachments such as a doctor's report, as well as documents that take time to prepare. Next day delivery or two days at the outside was fine. Now AusPost takes a week or more to deliver, and then the doctor's report has to be filled in by the doctor who understandably may have more urgent things to do and takes a day or so to do it. So the due date for returning the form is missed, (especially for people who have to post to documents back) and the claim date is reset by Centrelink. In my case it resulted in my missing out on four weeks of Carer's payment and allowance.
    Definitely the slowest and the delivery service in the world. It used to take 10 days to get a parcel from Hong Kong, noe its 2 to 3 months. 7 days to take a 4 hiur journey from Brisbane. 10 days from Melbourne, was 3. I got a parcel from texas in the USA via courier faster than a parcel from Syd. The parcel from US, 4 days. Time for a big shake up and some new management.
    3 packages of mine have gone missing. Last week one was set for delivery on Wednesday 19 Oct. I'm still waiting for it. Aus Post is a joke. We need more options who we can choose to deliver our mail. I get everything sent to my work; the company can been seen clearly when driving by. The old guy who works at the Emu Plains, NSW Post Office also needs to be fired. He is so rude, racist and extremely inappropriate. Australia post has really gone down hill
AMazing that in a Country as Young as AUSTRALIA, we Sell and Badly attempt to Privatise what WAS a Fully Operational, Honest and Decent delivery Service, Paid via out Taxes.. Now, it's a Carved up, Dis-jointed, Unreliable, Expensive beast. Much like many other Public Govt services that were essentially Thrown away. Look at the many Number of Euro countries and Asian Countries Govts. that Own and Profit from a Mail, Telco, Human Assistance services.. Thank YOU to the Many Hardworking individuals that Still make the place work and MANY Post Office, Sorry Post Shop :-\ owner that have the patience to sort out the Crap that comes from the Main organisation and management.. I like Many commenting here as Amazed how Slow Aust Post can be when they're involved with handling Other carriers Parcels.. Thank YOU to the operators that take out calls :) I can get parcels from London to Melb / Syd in 4-5 days via UK Mail, yet Aust post takes 4-7 days to get it to Adelaide.. Excluding Customs.. Totally Not Acceptable, and Totally Not on Global Standards.. Maybe AUST POST needs a Fully imported workforce that get paid via a 457 Visa arrangement to make it happen. ? Maybe get China to do our job for us ? Sort ya SH*T OUT guys !!!!
    I receive post from the U.S. in under 5 days, yet it takes Auspost near a week to take it from the Brisbane airport to Brisbane's north side 15 mins away. The complaint lines mean nothing, they never take notice. If there are grounds for it, a class action lawsuit would ruffle quite a few feathers and make people take notice as to how much they screw over everyone with little to no recourse. I sat and watched the delivery driver make no attempt to deliver my package today, just slipped the red note into my letterbox and away he went.
    I came from Sri Lanka recently & didn't have much knowledge about Aus post. I used express international service to send valuable & urgent document to SL. It supposed to be arrived in 6 days. But they have put the letter to flight from Australia one month later after I handed over to them. At the end there is no use of that letter since it is not delivered on time. So I compared SL population to Australian population. Its 20 million & 23 million respectively based on 2013 data. In SL they deliver letters from bicycles not bikes. No technology at all in post offices.all done by humans. But they delivered letters on time. Now I have a feeling, when I handed over something thing to Auspost,I should keep in my mind there is a 50:50 chance either it is being delivered OR it is not being delivered.
  1. in an organisation, there bound to be 10% or more bad apples. why are we accusing the other 90% for the fault of these 10%? it doesn't matter auspos or telstra or hbf or your local council,etc. some of them are a@$@!hole, we all experienced it before. but it is not fair to blame the other honest hardworking 90%.
    1. It's like this...
      A car has 800 bolts and screws. It only takes ONE cunt, with ONE spanner to undo the ONE nut, holding the steering wheel on - and every one else in the car dies too.
      So hands up those who have never stolen, lifted, acquired, borrowed anything - under paid the taxes, taken things home from work and never returned them, etc.
      Hands up those who think it's a shit thing to do and kind of regret being an arsehole and don't want to live like that.
      Hands up those who just don't give a fuck and will do pretty much anything and every thing they can without getting caught - no matter who it fucks over or brings repercussions onto the others in the big picture.
      Hands up those who are really honest, except when really easy never to get caught opportunities present themselves.
      Your looking at this the wrong way.
      It does not matter who, how, when, where, the person or people who stole the customers package and or shared the contents, the fact is that the customer says, "Australia Post are a pack of thieves".
      When enough people get enough deliveries stolen, go missing, pilfered, delivered to the wrong address, people get carded, or the deliveries take weeks instead of days AND it happens enough times to enough people, and the issues that put these problems in place are not rectified, and the problems caused by these situations are not fixed, and the fucked up and ripped off consumers are getting told to go fuck themselves - THEN the entire organisation is kind of declared a "public enemy" - the organisation you do not do business with.
      If 30 people out of 100 people in the swimming pool have diarrhea and crap their guts out big time - everyone comes out smelling like shit.
      Your thinking small picture, you need to think big picture.
