Report your passport missing in the mail

You can also report that your passport is missing in the mail. Passports missing in the mail, provided they are reported as missing within 60 days of despatch, are not considered to be Lost or Stolen and therefore incur no penalty.
You may report your passport missing in the mail if:

• your passport was mailed to an Australian address;
  and
• it was despatched from a Passport Office more than five working days ago.

It may take up to one week for delivery, depending on your location. Please check with your local Australia Post outlet before reporting it missing.
